Kira Charles, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM, has been practicing the Feldenkrais Method for over 20 years. She has completed Master Practitioner training with Mia Segal, Dr. Feldenkrais’s first assistant. She is a graduate of Dr. Chava Shelhav’s Child'Space Method Training. Kira was an Assistant Trainer at the first New York Child'Space Training, has been a staff practitioner at professional Feldenkrais trainings and and an adjunct faculty member of the New York University Continuing Education Department. She has presented at the American Congress of Rehabilitative Medicine on the use of the Feldenkrais Method for relieving chronic pain. She was an organizer of the New York Feldenkrais Clinic where she mentored recently graduated practitioners working with low-income clients. At Mount Sinai Medical Center, she participated in research to design effective therapeutic strategies to facilitate recovery of hand motor control in people with stroke. She taught for the New York City Department of Parks and the Paris/West End Health Club for over ten years and currently works with veterans with chronic pain at the Veteran Affairs-New York Harbor Healthcare System. She has developed seminars on more comfortable public speaking as well as special movement programs for trauma survivors. and people suffering from TMJ. She maintains a private practice in Manhattan and is on staff at Manhattan Pain Medicine, PLLC working with people with chronic pain.
